Interior
& Exterior Stain/Varnish
This is a versatile product which will protect internal and exterior joinery providing a thin, clear, almost matt finish on natural wood. It can be used to prime the wood with Nutshell Herb & Resin Oil applied first, if it is particularly dry or old.
Indoors, it is ideal for shelves, cupboard doors, etc., where just a simple and wipeable finish is required. It can be turned into a stain by adding a choice of Nutshell Earth & Mineral Pigments. Stains will vary in intensity, from translucent to almost opaque, according to the manount of pigment and the choice of colour.
Stained wooden surfaces can be protected by applying Nutshell Floor & Furniture Wax.
Outdoor use
The advantage of using this stain on outside wooden surfaces like windows, doors and weather boarding is, that it doesn't crack or peel like other conventional varnishes and paints, its "soft" finish allowing movement in the wood.
It is microporous, yet fully protective with a long maintenance cycle. It has obvious environmental advantages, as it needs simply replenishing when it is worn and can be safely used next to plants or even for posts in the ground. It is compatible with growing an organic garden!
These natural products nourish and protect all new and ageing wood surfaces and some can be used in conjunction with Nutshell Earth & Mineral Pigments.
